OPINIONS

Opinions: Lying is all the rage … 'roid rage, that is
CLEVERLY: I get shivers up my spine when I hear any person support the Mitchell Report. It has to be near the top of the list of the most wasteful investigations this country has ever had.

For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, former Senator George Mitchell was going to begin a "witch hunt" in early 2006 to investigate the possible use of steroids in baseball. You know, because no one "knew" if players were taking steroids.

Opinions: A study of one girl's apartment
WALLACE: I have this friend Katie B. We've known each other four years and have come to somewhat of an understanding.

That is, we understand we don't understand each other, and we think it's funny.
She likes "Dawson's Creek." I like fishing in the creek.

Opinions: Women: Put down People and pick up Business Week
MASCHOFF: As a student worker on campus, a good portion of my day is spent making copies, running errands and playing on the Internet. This is a guaranteed side effect to hours of sitting at my small desk with nothing to do.

Therefore, this free time allows me to browse everything that the Internet has to offer, including entertainment news. Now, I am pretty sure that the majority of the planet is unbelievably sick of hearing about the loves, losses and all-around good times of Hollywood's young starlets or star wannabes, which, for the sake of our gag reflex, will remain unnamed, but you know who they are. So don't worry, this article is not about them.

Opinions: On our minds
Bullying, family troubles, violent media, aggression. These are the usual suspects, always tabbed as potential causes for a school shooting. But if those are truly to blame, why don't even more people snap? After all, we all deal with those things.

That's why those reasons behind most shootings are far surpassed by the true heart of the issue, mental illness.

Look at the recent Northern Illinois and Virginia Tech tragedies, plus half a dozen school attacks from the '90s — all shooters had histories of mental illnesses.
