Police Beat: Man arrested after giving officer fake Mexican driver's license

Tempe police reported the following incidents Friday:
- A 32-year-old Phoenix man was arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of two counts of aggravated assault on an emergency worker on the 1600 block of East Cedar Street.
The man spat on a uniformed Tempe fire fighter rendering aid to him, police reported.
He was transported to Tempe City Jail after he was treated at Tempe St. Luke's Hospital, according to the police report.
- A 37-year-old Mesa man was arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of possession of a forged driver's license on the 1800 block of East Apache Boulevard.
The man was stopped after running a red light and produced a fake Mexican driver's license when asked for his license, registration and insurance, police reported.
He was arrested and transported to Tempe City Jail where he was booked and released pending the forgery charge, according to the police report.
- A 28-year-old man from McKinleyville, Calif., was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia on the 700 block of West Brown Street.
The man carried in his backpack a usable quantity of marijuana and a grinding tool that police said is commonly used to grind marijuana, according to the report.
He was transported to Tempe City Jail where he was booked and released pending the drug charges, according to the police report.
- A 20-year-old Tempe man was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia on the 1200 block of East Vista Del Cerro Drive.
The man was originally contacted because of a criminal damage on the 1100 block of East Broadway Road, and police followed him to his apartment because he couldn't produce identification, according to the police report.
Police said they observed marijuana and drug paraphernalia in plain view in the man's apartment.
He was transported to Tempe City Jail where he was booked and releasing pending the drug charges, according to the police report.
- A 19-year-old Tempe woman was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia on the 700 block of West Brown Street.
The woman had a usable quantity of marijuana and several glass pipes commonly used to smoke marijuana in her residence, police reported.
She was transported to Tempe City Jail where she was booked and released pending the drug charges, according to the police report.
- A 23-year-old Tempe man was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm on the 8000 block of South River Parkway.
After the man displayed the firearm and pointed it at two other individuals while driving eastbound on Elliot Road at the intersection of McClintock Drive, police acquired a search warrant and found the firearm in the man's car. Four witnesses, including the two who the Tempe man pointed the gun at, positively identified the suspect, police said.
The man was transported to Tempe City Jail where he was held to see a judge, according to the police report.
