Police Beat: Man arrested on Alpha Drive

Tempe Police reported the following incidents Sunday:
- A 19-year-old male ASU student was arrested early Sunday morning on the 600 block of Alpha Drive on suspicion of possession of marijuana, underage possession of alcohol and failure to appear in court, police reported.
Police contacted the student as he was leaving his vehicle because of a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, according to the police report.
The man admitted to police that he was smoking marijuana, and police found a plastic bag with a green, leafy substance believed to be marijuana in the center console of the vehicle, according to the report.
Police said they also found a plastic red cup with a liquid that smelled like alcohol inside the vehicle. The man stated he had been drinking "rum and coke," according to the police report.
The man's blood alcohol content was .037, police reported.
A records check revealed the man had failed to appear in court for a liquor violation, according to the police report.
The man was transported to the Tempe City Jail on one count of possession of marijuana, under 21 with alcohol in his body, minor in possession of alcohol and failure to appear in court.
- A 23-year-old Tucson man was arrested early Sunday morning on the 400 block of South Mill Avenue on suspicion of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, police reported.
Police contacted the man during a traffic stop, where the man was a passenger of the vehicle, according to the police report.
Police asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle and the man replied there was, according to the police report.
Police searched the vehicle and found a substance known to be a usable quantity of marijuana, police reported. A search also revealed "Zig Zag" papers. The man admitted to using the papers to smoke the marijuana, police reported.
The man was transported and booked into the Tempe City Jail on one count of possession of marijuana and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Tempe Police reported the following incident Monday:
- A 22-year-old man was arrested early Monday morning on suspicion of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, police reported.
Police contacted the man during a vehicle stop and the man refused to tell police where he lived, according to the police report.
The man was transported to the Tempe City Jail.
