ASU Police reported the following incident on March 17:
- An 18-year-old male ASU student was arrested on March 17 on suspicion of having consumed alcohol at the Palo Verde West residence hall, police reported.
According to the police report, the student leaped over a fence next to a police officer and yelled "f--- the police."
The officer noted in his report, "Students at [ASU] are rarely so brazen to yell the above mentioned obscenities at police officers."
The officer was concerned about noise, and he followed the student and told him, "Come here," police reported.
The student turned and started walking away but stopped when the officer made contact with him, according to the police report.
The student provided the officer with his ID and the officer asked him to go to the residence hall lobby, police reported.
According to the police report, the student told the officer "I have freedom of speech" and said, "I'm an athlete. You can't touch me," while walking to the lobby.
The officer asked the student what team he was on, and the student said he was a hockey player, according to the report.
The officer advised the student he would make a disciplinary referral to the student's dean and coach but the student replied, "I don't care," police reported.
The student had bloodshot and watery eyes and the odor of alcohol was detectable, according to the police report.
The officer asked him how much he had to drink and the student said he had consumed two beers, police reported.
The student was arrested, police reported.
ASU Police reported the following incident on Sunday:
- A 19-year-old female ASU student was arrested Sunday evening near the Palo Verde West residence hall on suspicion of possession of dangerous drugs for sale, police reported.
Officers were dispatched to the area after receiving a report of a female subject illegally selling pills, according to the police report.
The officers asked people in the area if the student in question was present, but no one said anything, police reported.
After an officer asked one student what her name was, she replied with the name of the suspect, according to the police report.
Police asked why she had not originally replied to them and she said, "I have never been in trouble before," police reported.
She provided an ASU ID, and police asked if they could see the contents of her pockets, according to the police report.
The student emptied several of her pockets, but did not show police the contents of her back pocket, which had a noticeable bulge in it, police reported.
An officer called dispatch to see if there was an available drug dog after the student refused to empty the contents of that pocket, according to the police report.
The student then pulled a bag with several white pills in it out of her pocket, police reported.
According to the police report, the student was arrested.
