Police Beat: Transient arrested on suspicion possession of dangerous drugs for sale

Tempe Police reported the following incident Tuesday:
- A 22-year-old transient man was arrested Tuesday evening on the 2300 block of West Broadway Road on suspicion of possession of dangerous drugs for sale, providing false information to law enforcement officers and other crimes, police reported.
Police contacted the man after he failed to provide identification, and he then gave a false name, according to the police report. When police searched the man's true name, it revealed that he had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court for failing to provide identification during a police stop in 2007, police reported.
A search of the man found that he had methamphetamine and cocaine packaged for sale, according to the police report.
The man was booked on two counts of dangerous drugs for sale, one count of failing to provide identification to law enforcement, providing false information to law enforcement and failure to appear in court.
Tempe Police reported the following incidents Wednesday:
- A 24-year-old transient man was arrested on the 3000 block of South Rural Road on suspicion of several counts of forgery of a credit card, burglary from a vehicle and other crimes, police reported.
Police contacted the man for several civil violations on his bicycle, and the man gave a false name to police, according to the police report.
He consented to a search and police found a stolen credit card, police reported. The man admitted he stole the credit card from a vehicle on the 200 block of East Southern Avenue, and police discovered he had used the card to purchase more than $200 worth of merchandise, according to the police report.
The man had also tried to use the card for a purchase in the amount of $300, but his transaction was denied that time, police reported.
Police attempted to interrogate the man after reading him his Miranda rights, but he failed to speak, according to the police report.
The man was booked on three counts of forgery of a credit card, two counts of theft of a credit card, one count of attempted forgery of a credit card, burglary from a vehicle and providing false information to law enforcement officers.
- A 21-year-old Tempe man was arrested early Wednesday morning on the 700 block of East Apache Boulevard on suspicion of committing arson, police reported.
Police arrested the man after an investigation revealed he set a dumpster on fire on the 1300 block of South Rural Road, according to the police report.
The man was transported to the Tempe City Jail and booked and held to see a judge.
