Police Beat: Man arrested for abusing his 2-month-old child

Tempe Police reported the following incidents Monday:
- A 21-year-old Tempe man was arrested early Monday morning on the 100 block of East Fifth Street on suspicion of child abuse, police reported.
A police investigation showed the man abused his 2-month-old child at his residence on the 3700 block of South Mill Avenue, according to the police report.
The child was admitted to the hospital on Sunday, and a medical examination revealed that the child had skull fractures, a head injury and seven rib fractures, police reported.
During a police interrogation, the man admitted to shaking his son approximately five times on April 5, according to the police report.
The man told police that after shaking his son, the child was limp, with his eyes rolled back and his head moving, police reported.
The man further admitted to throwing his son on a couch and holding his child upside down by his toe, according to the police report.
- A 41-year-old Tempe man was arrested Monday on the 1200 block of East Baseline Road on suspicion of possession of marijuana and narcotics paraphernalia, police reported.
Police arrested the man in his residence, where the items were in plain view in an open toolbox drawer on his patio, according to the police report.
He was booked into the Tempe City Jail.
- A 25-year-old Tempe man was arrested early Monday morning on the 800 block of West Elna Rae Street on suspicion of second-degree burglary, police reported.
The man unlawfully entered a residence and attempted to remove items from the pocket of a pair of pants inside the master bedroom, according to the police report.
The man was arrested, booked and transported to the Tempe City Jail.
- A 21-year-old man was arrested Monday afternoon on the 5200 block of South Kenwood Lane on suspicion of selling cocaine and possessing narcotics for sale, police reported.
The man provided cocaine to a police officer on three occasions between April 2 and April 6, according to the police report.
While searching the man, police found narcotics for sale, police reported.
He was arrested on three counts of the sale of narcotics and one count of possession of narcotics for sale.
