Last week, former Chicago Cubs outfielder Moises Alou admitted in an interview with The Associated Press that he wouldn't have been able to catch the infamous foul ball that Steve Bartman reached for in Game 6 of the 2003 NLCS game.
I thought, as many others probably did too, "Why did Alou take so long to exonerate Bartman for supposedly ruining Chicago's chance for a World Series title?"
I asked my roommate, and he said, "Maybe nobody asked him."
I would be a little peeved if that's the reason why Alou didn't help Bartman out sooner.
If I remember correctly, Cubs shortstop Alex Gonzalez committed an error in a previous at-bat that would have gotten pitcher Mark Prior out of the inning before the foul ball was even hit.
But that's in the past and the Cubs are looking pretty solid this year. I wouldn't be surprised to see them make a run for the playoffs.
