OPINIONS
Opinions: Just legalize weed already CEO: I am not exactly an advocate of legalized marijuana. I don't fight for it, I don't have people sign petitions, and I certainly do not write my representatives telling them to make it legal. But I certainly support its legalization, and if it were to come up to a vote, I would certainly vote in favor of it. Marijuana, as a drug, has never been proven to be addictive, unlike cigarettes and alcohol, which both are legal with limitations. Further, marijuana has been proven to be helpful for people who have a serious medical problem, including both cancer and HIV. Marijuana is often viewed as a cure-all for a wide variety of other medical ailments as well. Slowly, more states are starting to legalize marijuana for medicinal purposes. It's not only inexpensive to grow, but if taxed properly, would help erase the deficit.
Opinions: Cha-ching You know on old "Looney Tunes" sketches when the characters would start getting a little greedy and would have their pupils make the improbable transformation into dollar signs and their mouths morph into a cash register? If you don't know what we're talking about, we pity your childhood. If you do know, well, we hate to say it, but you should probably start preparing your facial region for a likely agonizing adjustment, because the following news will make you want to follow suit with your favorite cartoon characters:
Opinions: A wake-up call... literally SPIVACK: It was going to be another one of those nights. Already 1:30 in the morning, my eyes struggling to stay open with books and papers scattered everywhere, I felt the onset of a crash coming on. I was in need of another drink. I had been here before. Hopped up on sucrose, glucose, sodium citrate, taurine, glucuronolactone and, of course, caffeine, I was confident with my chances. And we've all done this before. Red Bull, Monster and Rockstar alike, we here in college thrive off them. They seem to have created a culture among youths and your everyday procrastinator type.
Opinions: Wii want them now DEVOE: When people line up outside stores for a product that will sell out within hours, I expect it to have been on sale for a month at most. When I decided it'd be fun to surprise my boyfriend with a Nintendo Wii for his birthday in December, I didn't expect to be facing a situation like the one stated above as the Wii had been on the market for more than a year. |
