Devil Dish

An effort to curse the hated Yankees was foiled Sunday.
A Red Sox fan and construction worker in New York buried a David Ortiz jersey inside the new Yankee Stadium. It was unearthed by the Yanks.
This is great.
I say this not out of hatred or allegiance to one of these teams, but because I thought it brought a greater lore to this rivalry.
What if the shirt is never unburied? Does "Big Papi" sink the Yankees in the ALCS every year from now until he retires? Do the Yankees go a near century between titles, as their curse-riddled division mates once did?
Sadly, we'll never know. You can't blame the team for wanting the jersey gone, but at the same time, it was a funny story that would have added to the rivalry had it surfaced after the stadium was done.
So much for payback on the Bambino, huh, Sox fans?
